(Anyone can join, but only after FMI posts.)
It had been a relaxing day for Kahaya, soaking up some sun while she lay on the park’s grass, with only her -somewhat depraved- book to shield her eyes from the harsh glare as it lay open across her face. She was content with nothing to focus on but the feelings which surrounded her, from the intermittent rushes of warmth across her front to the cool, slightly moist and very prickly sensations running across her back. It was the perfect way (Or at least to her it was) to spend the perfect day and she had quickly lost herself in her own little world as the worries of the village became a distant concern for her. She had even missed lunch as laziness won over hunger, but Kahaya saw no problem with a late lunch, actually she saw little problem with being late for anything; a nasty little habit she had picked up from an old friend…
A frown formed under cover of the book as Kahaya realized that her random thoughts had somehow moved to memories of her departed friend, Obito. Grudgingly she pushed herself up as this memory in turn reminded her of the one task of the day which she would never shirk or put off for later, if possible. After she had dusted herself off, she picked up her book and deftly flicked it open with one hand. She then proceeded to amble on towards her destination as she read.
After a considerably longer time than it should have taken thanks to her lazy pace, Kahaya finally arrived at her target, the Yamanaka flower shop. It was surprising that she had actually not passed it as she became increasingly involved in her book and what was sure to be quite the climactic ending to the chapter. Thankfully however, she had inadvertently bumped into someone just before passing the shop and so was saved the walk back. After lowering the book just enough so that she could peer over the top at whomever she had bumped into, she saw a young girl who she recognized as a genin. Upon identifying the girl as a genin, she couldn’t help but smile under her mask as she lowered the book and quite genuinely as well as cheerfully said, “Thanks.”

Why was she over here? The overpowering smell of flowery aromas killed her nose. Sure, flowers were pretty and all, but moderation please! Ah, yes, she had to pick up some groceries at that little market...booth...thing. Things were so weird in the city! Why not just bring the pig to you and cut it up and eat it? Didn't make much sense to Yakkai, but ya' gotta' eat.
Those thoughts were being pondered over until whamp! Someone knocked into her, or the other way around. Nonetheless it sparked a nerve in her.
"Hey!! Watch where you're goin'-!" Brow furrowed viciously at first until her eyes revealed that it was a Jounin of the village. Dropping to one knee, showing some type of submission she hung her head low murmuring quickly; "I apologize, ma'am!" Slurring her words before glancing up at the respected women, Yakkai waited until she was permitted to stand.
Staring at the ground now she probably looked silly to some of the more unmannerly Genin, but it was just like Yakkai to place honor upon those with more experience than herself. Just like it should be.. or so she said.

Serph grumbled as he lifted and moved flower pots in his mothers shop. His mother was out with his dad for a romanitic date to spice up there love life. That left Serph with two jobs taking care of the Flower shop, and taking care of his little sister. Both of which Serph didn't like doing, it was bad enough people mistook him for a girl but to be stuck aranging flowers at a flower shop didn't help. He heard some commotion outside and sighed, fights weren't good for business and he'd get yelled at if he didn't do something. Thus Serph went outside to see what was going on. Infront of him were two girls, one that was about his age and a jounin, "Can I help you, ladies?" Serph asked unuse to the polite words, they felt weird and unnatural to him.

(It’s slightly muddled but I wasn’t sure how else to throw everything together… Oh and FMI, I couldn't find much describing your character under appearance. You don't even have an attire.)
As Kahaya looked at the girl, she couldn’t help but notice her eyes and hair as they for some strange reason seemed to stand out more than anything else on this girl. Her hair especially, which Kahaya thought could look very nice with a little sprucing. It was then that the girl bowed which left the poor Jounin a little taken aback when the girl suddenly went down on a knee and apologized, after all it wasn’t like she was the kage. Feeling a little awkward, she rubbed the back of her neck habitually before saying, “Come now, there’s no need for that…”
It was then that she noticed someone else approaching from the store, but she didn’t react until said person spoke, asking, “Can I help you ladies?”
Glancing over her shoulder Kahaya saw a young boy standing behind her, who at first glance would appear to make a better looking girl. Of course, the stockings and dress didn’t help his situation. How could Kahaya resist such a tempting offer to poke some fun and so after turning properly to face the boy she ruffled his hair with her free hand and asked, “Well aren’t you the prettiest thing?” Not waiting for an answer/outburst however, she continued by stating exactly how he could help.
“I do need some help actually. I’d like to buy a bouquet of Agapanthus. Oh, but first… I’m Hatake Kahaya and I take it you’re Yamanaka Serph, ne?” She knew the boy through her parents as she was a frequent visitor to the store.
With that said Kahaya turned to face the formal girl and asked with genuine curiosity, “So what’s your name?” She actually had to admit that the girl reminded her almost of herself when she was all about the rules and being formal.

Serph twiched visually as him and the words "Prettiest thing" were used in the same sentance. Serph openned his mouth to scream and yell a lot of obscene and rather valguar language to the Jounin. He didn't get the chance however as Kahaya proceeded to speak, Serph shut his mouth and muttered ill-temperedly. He was about to go into the shop to gather a bouquet, when Kahaya introduced herself, and seemed to know him. "Yeah, that's me. Your one of the regulars right?" Serph asked though it was obvious the boy was still fuming over the earlier comment.
"I'll be right out with you Agapanthus, you want it on your tab?" Serph asked nowing that regulars usually allowed to pay later. Serph darted into the shop and found a already made bouquet. One thing Serph's mother learned was though feminent he looked, her son was no good at flower arranging and allowing him to try was aften a disaster. It was for that reason that bouquets were often prepared a head of time if he was watching the shop. Serph came out with the bouquet and handed it to Kahaya. "This is what you wanted, right?" he asked, it was clear that Serph really didn't care much for plant life like his mother.

((I...hate typing up descriptions of clothing..>>;; ) Her eyes peered up to the almost embarassed-looking Jounin. Why was she so embarassed? Why did no other Genin respect their elders like Yakkai was taught? Konoha, even since she had arrived there years ago was vastly different than what she was used to and what she liked. Standing up, Yakkai looked seriously at Kahaya not wanting to say anything while she spoke to the other boy. That would just be rude. She did though, give a humoured smirk at the boy who was being taunted for his attire. The cynical girl muttered "Yeah, you go do that flower boy," as he scampered off to get the Jounins arrangment. Something must've been wrong with that boy to tend to a flower shop. That was usually a girly-girl's job. Though about to walk away, she turned abruptly back around when the higher ranking ninja asked of her name. "Yakkai Yuwaku, ma'am." This time, Yakkai gave a small bow, leaning her upper body forward before coming back up. "2nd year Genin awaiting a new cell, ma'am."

Girl or not, that comment really pissed Serph off. If it wasn't for the fact that his mother would have murder him if anything happened to her shop, The feminate looking boy would have let out all his rage of the older Genin. It wasn't like he liked managing such a place, it was just that he didn't have a choice.
(sorry for the crappy post, couldn't think of a good reply.)

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, it won't happen again. Anyway, I wasn't sure what else to add to this thread but if either of your genin are the types to ask for training, maybe you can catch up to Kahaya and ask her. We'd probably be able to accomplish more with that kind of thread. Also, this week should be pretty clear so I have plenty of time... again, sorry about that.)
IC: Kahaya glanced at the flowers as the genin offered them to her and gave a small nod before taking them.
She then returned her focus to Yakkai and had to wonder how she’d treat her peers once she was of a higher rank herself. Or maybe the girl based her reactions on age… Kahaya had to gasp inwardly as she thought, “I don’t look old, do I? Pfft, never!” As this debate continued within her mind, Kahaya’s outward expression remained somewhat bored and disinterested. After a short time however she came back to reality and smiled before responding to what Yakkai had said last.
“Well, you shouldn’t have to wait that long since the teams are to be announced soon. Hmm, speaking of which…” Kahaya appeared to grow thoughtful before she finally added, “I’d try to fit some training in if I were you two, in preparation…”
Leaving it at that her eyes once again carried that familiar glint of a smile before she told them both, “Anyway, I’ll leave you two to your business, so take care. Also, thank you Serph, it’s admirable that you can find time to tend the store while training; you’ll make a fine kunoichi, I’m sure. Give my regards to your parents.”
With that Kahaya flipped her book out into her free hand and once again began reading as she started her walk to the memorial. She made a lazy farewell gesture to the genin as she walked.

“Anyway, I’ll leave you two to your business, so take care. Also, thank you Serph, it’s admirable that you can find time to tend the store while training; you’ll make a fine kunoichi, I’m sure. Give my regards to your parents.”
That was it, that was the last stray for Serph, now the Jounin was simply mocking him. "I'll have you know I'm a boy! It's not like I like doing this you know! That's it! I'm done with this stupid flower shop!" Serph snarled, now in a very foul mood. The Yamanaka flipped the shop sign to closed and both locked and closed the door, well more like slamming it in his rage.
After words the feminine looking Genin strode after the Jounin. Higher ranked ninja or not, pride would not allow Serph to simply let that insult slide. "Hatake Kahaya! I challenge you! No one gets away with insulting me like that! Not even a Jounin like you!" Serph barked viciously, it was clear that the young Genin was worked up over the little comment. There was little that upset Serph more than being called a girl.

Post by Haruno Hoshi on Oct 8, 2006 10:17:57 GMT -5
Hoshi was laid on his bed, facing the ceiling of the bedroom. He and many like him, had graduated from the ninja academy, and now he was waiting to be put under the instructions of a Jounin. Until that happened, he had nothing to do. Getting up from the bed, the genin decided to take a walk in the market area. At least it would be better than staring at the ceiling all day. He still wasn’t used to put his new forehead-protector before leaving the house, but it was already an object of great importance to him.
On a sunny day like this one, the village streets were always filled with people, and Hoshi was one of them. Even though he wasn’t going to buy or sell anything, he walked slowly, just to hear the crowd’s voices. All kinds of shops could be found on that street, that was what it made it always so crowded.
Eventually, Hoshi stopped at the door of Yamanaka Flower shop, in which a “closed” could be seen on the door's sign. It wasn’t long until he heard a familiar voice. Turning his head to his left, Hoshi saw the back of the boy who could put irony and hate in his words. Yamanaka Serph… There was a girl near him, but the boy was more interested in thinking of what he would say once Serph saw him there.
"I'll have you know I'm a boy! It's not like I like doing this you know! That's it! I'm done with this stupid flower shop!"
Hoshi tried to hide his laughter as well as he could. It was not the first or last time someone thought he was a girl, but who was it this time? One step back was enough to see that some meters away from them was an adult woman.
"Hatake Kahaya! I challenge you! No one gets away with insulting me like that! Not even a Jounin like you!"
A jounin huh? He thought. Finally, the genin didn’t resist speaking.
“You were always mistook by a girl, Serph-chan.” Said Hoshi, before laughing. “You really should get used to it.” After a brief pause, the boy put his right hand on his waist. “And, challenging a Jounin…? Baka…”

Kahaya spoke as if rambling off a list of things to do. It was quite boring and Yakkai kept a simple apathetic look on throughout it all. Yes, the women may have been older but boy could she ramble off some useless information. Only when the jounin mistook Serph for a kunoichi did she give a cynical snicker and give a sly look over to the boy.
Crossing her arms, Yakkai watched with a certain amused expression as the boy's temper snapped and he slammed the door shut and said something quite surprising; he was actually threatening to fight Hatake Kahaya!
And, without much thought Yakkai went to give a swift punch in the face for Serph. If he evaded the punch she would still be cracking her knuckles in satisfaction and if he didn't, well, let's just say she would be shining in the glory of her ability to embarass very dumb boys.
"Yep, Serph-chan," It was easy to build upon Hoshi's reminder, "Why don't'cha cut that girly hair of yours and actually pretend to be a boy?" Letting out an annoying chuckle Yakkai watched the entire scene unfold itself.

Serph sneered at the voice of Haruno Hoshi, he couldn't forget the voice of his rival even if he wanted to, and there were times he really wanted to. Now was one of those moments, and it was obvious that Serph wasn't in the mood to deal with his rival. His pride as a warrior and a shinobi was just insulted. Pride demanded that he challange the offending Jounin to regain face as a young genin. It wasn't like he expected to win, infact Serph knew his chances were low, but this was a matter of honor and pride. Win or loose he had to challange any who insulted him.
However the two genin solved his delima for him with there own insults. "You want a peice of me, Haruno?!" Serph asked wheeling from his persuing of the jounin to glare kunai at Hoshi. It was then that he spoted a punch comming his way from the corner of his eye and brought his arm up to block the punch, it was a slow reactiong due to it being his prostetic arm, but it would shield him from some of the blow. Then came the insult from the Kunoichi that was only a year older than him.
"Why don't'cha cut that girly hair of yours and actually pretend to be a boy?" Letting out an annoying chuckle Yakkai watched the entire scene unfold itself.
"Shut up!" Serph replied simply and angerly, he wasn't about to resort to simple insults. "Come on! I'll take on anyone that insults my honor!" Serph snapped pridefully. This day just seemed to get worse for Serph. First the shop, then a Jounin insults him, and now both his rival and this 2nd year Genin were insulting his honor. The Yamanaka breifly wonder if this was some sort of setup to test the limits of his short temper he soon wrote it off as bad luck however.

Kahaya had stopped when Serph called out to her but beyond that she hadn’t taken in much else. Instead she had chosen to look up and gaze at the tranquil sway of the trees as well as ponder what she should do for supper; perhaps a visit to the Ichiraku for some ramen was in order… Don’t get her wrong as Kahaya enjoys genin bullying just as much as the next jounin but that is what team assignments are for. It didn’t take her long to sense the tension in the air however and so with curiosity she returned her attention back to the genin.
“Hmm, I guess I missed something important…” she thought to herself before looking to Serph as she heard him speak out again, challenging anyone who dared to insult his honour or somesuch. Upon hearing that Kahaya couldn’t help but sigh as she thought, “This is all over a little tease? The genin these days are too touchy…”
Choosing not to interfere, Kahaya instead examined the new arrival, recognizing him from the reports they were given not too long ago in preparation of the team assignments. The boy had a definite talent for theory but apparently he was slightly lacking when it came to the more physical tests.
“I should probably break this up but maybe it’d be better if I let them work it out themselves…” Ultimate wisdom or cunning laziness? You decide. She closed her book and watched the genin with a rather bored expression as she waited for them to have at it, or sort out their differences; preferably the latter…

"You want a peice of me, Haruno?!"
Hoshi was amused. As Serph turned his back on the jounin, it became clear that his words had a bigger effect on him, and the kunai on the boy's hand confirmed it.
"Why would I waste my time beating up someone like you?" [glow=blue,2,300]BRING IT ON! SHANNARO!!![/glow]
"Why don't'cha cut that girly hair of yours and actually pretend to be a boy?"
Strangely, the girl next to them suddenly tried to punch the boy in front of him, but without success. What the...? Isn't she being a little harsh? It wasn't like Serph didn't deserve it on Hoshi's viewpoint, but, did she had a reason to do that? Maybe something happened before he arrived there...
"Shut up! Come on! I'll take on anyone that insults my honor!"
Honour... It was always what it was about. If it is so important, why the hell doesn't try to look more like a boy? Hoshi could say that out loud, but with the girl's sudden violence, he didn't knew if it was good to heat things even more with his words, even if that guy was his rival. The jounin didn't even moved! She just stands there staring at them like she was having fun with the whole thing! What kind of jounin is she? The answer to that was clear as water, as soon Hoshi's eyes saw the book on her hands. The perverted kind... Thought the genin, a little disappointed. The size and color of the book made it recognizable; after all, it was a famous one.

When she recoiled from the deflected punch she muttered a small curse that was barely audible. Her brow raised in a confused matter just now realizing what had caused the pain in her knuckles. "What the-?" Weird, she didn't notice the metal over Serph's hand until now. Looking down at her fist which was opening and closing, relieving the pain some what Yakkai than looked up to the boy with a disgusted look.
Fists before words. So Serph wanted a fight? Alright, she'd dish it out just to see the loud-mouth boy shut up for once in the past 15 or so minutes.
Without much warning Yakkai ducked down low toward the ground, thrust-ed her right elbow in front of her and pushed her entire body forward attempting to ram Serph in the gut and bring him hopefully to the ground. The stupid kid deserved a swift kick in the ass, but that would've been inappropriate to fight in such a crude matter in front of Kahaya.
With kick off with the left, forward heel the Yuwaku girl found herself feet away from Serph. Best offense is a good defense as they always say.
Slowly she rose from the battle-ready stance and sneered at both Hoshi and the Yamanaka. "Honor? That shit don't mean squat, Serph" Crossing her arms once again she simply looked off to the side, but wasn't dumb enough to keep her attention off both boys and the Jounin. Just like Hoshi, Yakkai was surprised by Kahaya's rather...odd reaction (which was practically nonexistent) to the little quarrel.
