A set of thin ebony eyes looked up to the sun perched high in the sky, by analysing its whereabouts Houkou knew it was lunchtime. The small smile that had once been on her face now turned into a wide grin, her stomach growled boisterously all the while. The genin looked down to where Murasaki was energetically wagging her tail, a pair of round puppy-dog eyes focused on her master causing Houkou to laugh a little, her ninken must’ve been pretty hungry too…
Houkou had been walking her companion for over an hour now, well…when she said walking, it was more like strolling side by side. None of that silly leash business; Houkou hated the thought of such things when Murasaki could easily walk without one, and she wouldn’t be so careless as to walk off without Houkou anyway. It was common to stop at irregular intervals on their walks for some light training, so it wasn’t surprising that the two companions had worked up an appetite.
“Right,” The girl said breaking the peaceful silence whilst outstretching her arms behind her head and into the air. “Time for lunch!” She soon elaborated with a grin, showing off her pearly white canines all the while. Murasaki replied with an optimistic bark, her tail seemed to be wagging even more so. It wasn’t long before the two had run off, following the strongest scent of food, and being an Inuzuka; it was a relatively easy task.
The brunette soon found herself running towards the food and drinks district of Konoha. Here the streets were busy, which wasn’t surprising considering it was lunchtime and their was an alluring scent of dango on one side of the street. But Houkou and Murasaki would need something far more fulfilling then sweets for lunch. Scrunching up her nose the genin persisted in sniffing the air, there were many scents to be picked up today, each individual had their own smell, as did each food stand…but one seemed to have caught Houkou’s attention by a long shot.
Houkou persisted in shuffling through the dense crowds, and by this time her ninken had already jumped into the hood of her coat; not wanting to get lost in the crowds. They fell upon a ramen stall, Ichiraku’s to be precise. The sound of sizzling ramen and the hustle and bustle inside was certainly alluring, and soon Houkou had lifted up one of the drapes and had proceeded to enter.
She took a seat on a stool, eyeing up the menu in front of her with her mouth slightly ajar in the anticipation of filling her stomach. Just before she could order, a man behind the counter had approached, for a moment she thought she was lucky for being served so quickly…but upon further inspection it didn’t look like he was there to take orders.
“No pets.” His voice was cold and affirmative.
“What!? She’s not just a pet, and she’s very hygienic!!” The Inuzuka girl persisted with fists clenched and gritted teeth, she could already feel Murasaki’s spirits drop. Unfortunately after five more minutes of trying to persuade the owner (with a loud and slightly irritated tone), it was obvious he wasn’t going to give in. The genin huffed before scowling at the stocky man.
“Fine then!! We don’t need you’re damn ramen anyway!” And with that she stormed out…unfortunately her stomach didn’t agree with her statement as if growled again.
“Don’t worry Murasaki, there’s gotta be somewhere that will let you in…”
“*Bark*”

Nara Kaoru saltered down the over crowded streets of the village, with aromas drifting all around her. This was the perfect day to be taking a light stroll just after lunch time and the village was amoke with such activity.
But being her lazy self, she was no concerned of these little events all around her. She was focused on buying the grocceries like her mother ordered her to run. An errand was an errand and she was all about that, not getting side-tracked at all.
In the distance, a familiar looking head, Inuzuka Houkou stalked down angrily with her little dog companion, running a trail of angry smoke behind them. Anger marks stretched tremendously.
Kaoru never got caught up in other people's affairs, but she couldn't help be curious what made Houkou so angry.
As the Inuzuka approached her direction, Kaoru eased her self and stepped away to avoid being stampeded.
"Mind i ask why you're so mad?" she asked, with a hint of half-heartedness.

Houkou could hear some footsteps pacing towards her, and just assuming it would be a stranger passing by, the Inuzuka braced herself for pushing through the crowds that only seemed to be escalating. Her eyes narrowed even more, anger marks appearing on her scowling face and if she wasn’t careful the vein in her forehead would probably explode at any given moment. Houkou was angry…very angry.
Murasaki had taken the precaution of jumping into her owners hood, and not making her hunger pains vocal, that would probably just annoy Houkou more…and Houkou in a ratty mood, or with an empty stomach infact, was not a Houkou one should approach with ease. The girl was about to turn on her heel to find somewhere to eat, when she was suddenly taken back by a girl standing in her way, Nara Kaoru to be precise.
Houkou almost jumped back in shock, she hadn’t even realised the other girl was standing there until their eyes met. But soon that wide-eyed expression turned back into a deep frown, and soon her stomach was howling again.
"Mind I ask why you're so mad?"
“Ug,” Came the reply that was said through a sigh, showing her disdain for the current situation. She paused for a moment, raising a brow at the Nara girl inquisitively; why on earth was someone like her taking the time to ask Houkou something so unnecessary. Soon Houkou decided she didn’t really care too much, and since someone was paying attention to her, Houkou decided that this would be the best opportunity to get some attention or even sympathy…and perhaps vent herself and let off some steam.
“Me and Murasaki here were just kicked out of the ramen place.” She spoke casually with another sigh as she clenched her stomach, but it soon turned into a more aggravated tone as she elaborated. “I mean, it’s stupid! Not allowing pets, its not as if Murasaki’s diseased, don’t you agree?”

Kaoru could care less what the reason the Inuzuka was so angry. But getting herself into this situation, it was best to say something before the dangerously unstable looking anger mark possibly exploded upon her head. "You got kicked out the ramen place?" Kaoru replied to her remark.
The thing was, Kaoru visited Ichiraku often and it was this particular day she decided to get some ramen too.
"Maybe I could be of some help?" Kaoru questioned. Helping people wasn't really her "thing" but at this point, it was almost pretty fun to be useful to some stranger she usually never associated with... "Teuchi-oji-san... (The guy who owns the ramen shop) ...and I are pretty tight. I could possibly stretch the rules for you..."

Houkou’s frame leaned against the wall behind her as her little ninken moved to sit on top of her head. Houkou made it look as though she were too tired to stand, perhaps from a lack of food, but she was probably just doing it to emphasise the fact she was hungry, and was savouring the attention. Another sigh departed from her lips before she nodded to the Nara’s rather blunt statement.
"Maybe I could be of some help?"
The once drained looking Houkou perked up a little more at that, her ears were twitching somewhat as she blinked profoundly, her thin pupils darted to the side where Kaoru was standing, hoping that she would elaborate. Houkou hoped she wasn’t lying; her hopes had already been lifted greatly by that small statement.
“Really?” Came the short reply, urging Kaoru to continue.
"Teuchi-oji-san... (The guy who owns the ramen shop) ...and I are pretty tight. I could possibly stretch the rules for you..."
Houkou quickly spun on her heel to face the other girl completely, almost making a crevice in the ground where the dust had been squashed by her fast and slightly exuberant movements. It was only too obvious that Houkou had high hopes; her eyes were glistening with excitement as she clapped her hands together. Murasaki also seemed to share her master’s excitement with a few barks.
“That would be great!! Could you really!? Did you hear that Murasaki?”
“*barkbark*!”
The Inuzuka girl grinned at her ninken before turning to Kaoru with a wide smile etched onto her lips. She also made a mental note to add this girl to her Christmas card list. That was…if her attempts would work…

Houkou stood, energized and ready to go. Kaoru smirked and twirled her finger to instruct the eager genin and her ninken to follow closely as she led them to the ramen shop.
Ichiraku's front entrance was rusted by the aromas flipped Kaoru's stomach as the familiar bangs of the pans were heard. Kaoru had worked at Ichiraku at one point and she was almost looked upon as a grandaughter to Teuchi-oji-san.
"Teuchi-saaann!" Kaoru called out once they entered the shop. Ayame and the old geezer were behind the counters, serving two eager looking customers.
"Oh my! Kaoru-chan!" Ayame smiled and Teuchi greeted the same. But when they spotted Murasaki, the little ninken perched on Houkou's head, the smile was lifted and immediately, Teuchi pointed to the sign by the door reading, "ANIMALS NOT ALLOWED."
Kaoru gave her puppy face which usually worked wonders with her parents. Teuchi softened a notch by he wasn't persuaded.
"Now kaoru-chan...we all know the health code here...no pets allowed." Teuchi explained, with a touch of gentleness.
"But Teuchi-oji-saaann! Houkou-san and her dog are almost one! Murasaki-kun is a really clean ninken, I swear! They're both big on hygiene." Kaoru said, sweetly.
Alas, the angel act prevailed and Teuchi left the two girls (and Murasaki) to sit at the bench, preparing two ramen bowls for them...

Houkou followed Kaoru with enthusiasm, and perhaps even with the slightest skip in her step too. She had been in the mood for ramen all day, so now that she stood a chance of having some, it only seemed to wet the Inuzuka’s appetite even more. She obediently walked behind the other girl, making sure to let her do all the talking, considering the old man actually liked her. Maybe if Houkou was lucky she’d get a free meal too, she doubted it though…if anything she was the one who would owe Kaoru the free meal.
The sound of pot and pans was like music to Houkou’s ears, even if she had been kicked out just minutes ago, it was impossible to deny the sweet scent of ramen as her stomach growled boisterously.
"Teuchi-saaann!"
Houkou fisted the bottom of her jacket, anticipating the worst, which would be a foul expression and a shooing out of the ramen shop. However, when the old man turned, he was actually smiling and even added an endearing suffix to the other girl’s name…but that was probably when Houkou realised he wasn’t smiling at her, and when their eyes finally met, the smile soon washed away.
As his hand pointed to the sign, Houkou could only sigh…so much to that plan, and just when she was in the perfect mood for ramen too, just when she was desperately hungry…typical…sod’s law she supposed.
"Now kaoru-chan...we all know the health code here...no pets allowed."
As gentle as his voice sounded, it only made Houkou grit her teeth some more, simply because he was only talking to Kaoru, and it almost felt like he was rubbing salt in the wounds by ignoring her.
"But Teuchi-oji-saaann! Houkou-san and her dog are almost one! Murasaki-kun is a really clean ninken, I swear! They're both big on hygiene."
“That’s right!!” Houkou replied with a determined tone, perhaps this would change the old man’s mind, Murasaki barked along too, not in a vicious way, just in agreement.
And then, as if someone had lit up a Christmas tree in Houkou’s head, her eyes began to gleam with happiness, seeing the old man give in, and let the two girls take a seat near the counter. She almost squealed with happiness…but squealing just wasn’t her thing…
“Thanks Kaoru! You’re a star!” She beamed, taking a seat and resting her elbows on the countertop. She didn’t really know Kaoru too well…but Houkou had to admit, this situation was a little odd, and like always…curiosity got the better of the Inuzuka.
“So, uhh, why did you decide to help me out anyways?” She asked casually, “You don’t seem the type, no offence…ehehe” She finished with a somewhat sheepish grin.

"Thanks Kaoru! You're a star!" Houkou told the purple haired kunoichi. Kaoru only grimaced.
"Hey...I got you in here for free, don't push it like that." She said in reply. The only thing she dispised more than preppy metallic idiots was being complimented in ways referred to as a close friend.
So, uhh, why did you decide to help me out anyways?” Houkou asked casually, “You don’t seem the type, no offence…ehehe"
Kaoru mustered an amused smile. Helping people was in her nature, but she had to admit...it was really a spur in the moment. Coincidentally, Kaoru was headed to Ichiraku in the first place. But she had been known to let her mouth run and act on impulse, not even pausing to think what she was doing before the situation struck her. One word: lazy...
"Helping you?" Kaoru asked. "Who says I was helping you?" Teuchi handed the two girls a bowl of hot ramen. "It was in my best interest, and I was headed to Ichiraku anways. Wouldn't it make sense to spare us both the trouble...?" Again, Kaoru made no sense. But that was also what she was known for...running her mouth when she almost had no clue what she was doing.
"But you interest me...Inuzuka." Kaoru said. "Perhaps a spar after lunch would be in order?"
