The Chuunin ran his hand through his hair, smoothing it for the umpteenth time in the past 15 seconds. He was nervous and the stuffy academy room wasn't helping. He smoothed his hair again. He'd been assigned to hand-out the list of teams to some of the Jounin for this year's Genin. Oddly enough, Konoha had forgone their usual test of the Genin, letting the large amount of them onto teams. Though that wasn't why he was nervous. No, the reason behind that was part hearsay and part...Hell, it was all hearsay.
He'd heard rumours that he was under consideration for a promotion to Jounin. He'd heard another that there'd be a test of some sort, disguised as some innocuous event. A chuunin alone in a room with a good number of Jounin? There was a good chance this was indeed said test. Or he was being paranoid. The fact that he idolized one of the Jounin didn't too much to help his nervousness.
He had been looking through the files that morning and saw 'Shiranui Saitomi' on the cover of one folder. He'd nearly fallen over in shock. Unfortunately, in the rush to try and prepare things afterwards, he'd forgotten his own toothpick. It was probably lying on the counter at home. He sighed and dropped backwards into the chair. "It's too hot...!" he said, rocking the chair back and putting both feet onto the table.
There was about another 15 minutes before the set for the Jounin to arrive, and none of them had seen it fit to arrive early. But then, neither had he. He'd reached about 2 minutes ago. He looked up at the clock hanging above him on the wall. Maybe they'd all get there early so he could get the hell out of this heat...

Loud steps echoed in the hall, outside the room, as one of the awaited Jounin slowly walked towards the settled meeting place. With dark purple hair, a not very friendly grin on her face and hands formed into rock hard fists, she entered the room. Her eyes in combination with her smile made her seem like the reincarnation of the devil himself, although in female form.
Amaya was her name. The staff wielding tutor had entered the room in a noisy and a bit impatient manner, showing that she was not in the best mood. Even if she was one of the first to actually arrive, she was in fact a bit nervous that she would not make it on time. And indeed she didn't or at least her clock said so.
Yet her temper slowly cooled down as she saw the room being almost completly empty. Only a single Chuunin was there, nothing more. Actually, what was a Chuunin doing in a Jounin meeting? Was this the right room? Wasn't that the toothpick chewer?
So many questions arose as Amaya carefully examined the shinobi. She needed answers and fast. She spoke up in a manner as if she was the drill instructor of Konoha, in a loud, serious and very clear voice, the following words started to echo in the relatively empty room.
"Is this the room in which the Jounin should meet today?"
If a 'no' would be the answer, then in fact this would be a reason to panic. This Jounin always strived to become a role-model and now? She was late for an imporatant meeting. Surely nothing you should copy and be proud of. Yet if she was indeed in the wrong place would be answered sooner or later, and she doubt it would be later.

Yamato was coming from the Hokage Manor after reporting in on his successful mission and was then informed that he would have to temporarily take over a team of three fresh out of the academy genin. At first he didn't believe what he was told and went straight to hokage-sama to be certain.
"You're kidding me about this genin team, right Hokage-sama?" Tenzo asked while kneeling before him head down. Of course the hokage wasn't kidding, why would he kid about something like this, he wouldn't, plain and simple. Yamato left the manor and headed towards the Ninja Academy to the meeting, complaining the entire way.
"Why the fuck do I have to take on a team of normal genin? Don't they have any other cockbite that could do it?" Tenzo complained aloud while casually walking into the room in which this meeting that should have been loads of fun was supposed to take place. He was far from angry, but he sure as hell wasn't overflowing with enthusiasm with this task.
I better not get a worthless team, or else I'm demanding a new one. He thought to himself before even realizing the other two standing before him in the room. Yamato sighed heavily seeing a chuunin and another jounin in the room, then shook his head in disgrace before removing his ANBU mask. Yamato was still in his ANBU uniform since he just got finished with a mission earlier that very day.
"Why the hell is there a chuunin here? Actually, never mind. Don't tell me, just give me my team and let me go." He said, words muffled a bit by his ANBU mask and not caring if the others were talking or not as he wanted to get this over with as soon as possible and get changed out of his cloak and body armor.

Post by Tomue Senshou on Oct 14, 2006 16:14:23 GMT -5
It was a mildly warm day outside the academy, calling for light clothing and perhaps something to drink. However, the academy itself was a furnace. Whoever designed the building never thought about the summer months. For the jacket-wearing, constantly dancing Tomue Senshou, it certainly made movement uncomfortable. He'd been humming to himself till he opened the academy door and a blast of broiling air rushed out into his face.
He'd walked the rest of the way. He spun, grabbed the door handle, and pulled it open, essentially falling backwards into the room. He hit something larger than he was far more unmovable. He stopped, pulling the near-invisible headphones out of his large hairfluff he called a head, and turned his head, looking behind him. 'ANBU...?'
"...just give me my team and let me go."
He only caught the last half of the statement though. 'Guess I'm in the right place,' he thought to himself. He turned around fully, glancing at the other two Jounin and...chuunin? They weren't giving a chuunin a team, were they? No...That was just dumb. Obviously, he was giving them their teams.
Sen blinked somewhat obliviously to the slight tension in the room. "Uh," he said, "Yo?"

Back at Kahaya’s place.
Kahaya couldn’t help but sigh as she reluctantly pushed herself up from bed, the day had finally come and it was time to be assigned teams; at that very moment actually. She glanced at her clock and knew instantly that she was late.
“Pfft, I better kick myself into high gear. Don’t want to keep everyone waiting too long…”
With this in mind she gave a long satisfying stretch before proceeding with her morning routine which included a nice long shower, cleaning up her room and stopping by the kitchen for some toast and coffee. Of course, she had to clean the dishes once she was done as well as it was always nice to come back home and everything was spotless. Finally, after this last little task, she actually headed out.
As she sauntered over to the Academy Kahaya took care of a few other important tasks, they were on the way anyway. She stopped by a café for another shot of coffee (They’d probably want her at her sharpest for the meeting), the shops to order some groceries (They’d probably understand since the shops may be closed once her duties for the day were done), the park to stare at the clouds a bit (Umm, they’d probably want her relaxed?) and a few other essential tasks.
It’s not like anyone didn’t know it was coming but, an hour later…
“Ohayo!” Kahaya said cheerfully before stepping into the classroom, smiling behind her mask. She moved to sit down on the nearest desktop and waited for their orders/team assignments.

There'd been a flurry of movement after the first Jounin had entered the room. The Chuunin'd almost fell backwards in the chair from that one. He didn't even have time to respond to her question before the other two burst in shortly afterwards. After a brief bit of complaining from the tallest of three, Tenzo, he believed the file had listed him as, they'd settled down. He felt very much like he was teaching an Academy class...Albeit, a very old, eccentric class.
He was a bit disappointed Saitomi wasn't present. There were quite a few things he wanted to say/ask the man. But back to the matter at hand. He coughed. "Uh...Yes," he began, "My name is Kakitaka Genma. I'm supposed to hand you your team files, however..." He glanced between the three of them, pausing. "It seems Hatake-san isn't here yet. Let's just wait a bit longer..." And waited they did. For an hour. Of pure silence. Impatient silence, but silence nonetheless. Aside from that one white-haired Jounin's consistent beat-boxing and Tenzo's constant vulgar mutterings to himself. Until finally...
“Ohayo!”
'Finally!' Genma thought. He'd heard the term 'silence is deafening' but after an hour of that...In short, he'd wanted to kill anything incapable of making noise and everything that didn't make noise just to hear it die. Painfully. He got up from his seat, pulling out four somewhat thick folders from the desk he'd been sitting infront of for the past hour. "Uh, yes," he said, looking at the name on the first folder.
"These folders have the name and information of your genin cells," he said, "Amaya Uesegi," He slid the first folder forward, already looking at the second; "Tenzo..." He trailed off, no other name written on the folder and merely looked up as he pushed the second folder towards the end of the desk; He looked at the next name, "Hatake Kahaya." He pushed the third folder forward and glanced at the final one, clearly the wrong name displayed there. "And...Uh...Shirou-san." He pushed the fourth and final folder to the end of the desk, leaning up and scratching his head.
"And...that's it."

Waiting for the answer to her loud question, Amaya was more then impatient at this point. She never really liked that toothpick chewer, but he was at this point her only hope to get a bit of information. Nervously she looked around, the room was almost entirely empty, she didn’t know if she was indeed the first to come, or if she was in the wrong place. A few seconds later, the hall was once again filled with echoes of steps. The door was then opened, a bit of curiosity lead the eyes of Amaya towards the entrance. The sight of a ANBU agent was the first thing the staff wielding Jounin noticed. Now it was all just confusion, was she really in the wrong room?
The arrogant and unfriendly remarks of the newcomer didn’t fall on deaf ears. For she understood every single world clearly and indeed she was in the right place. No one could describe the relief that Amaya felt. No longer did she want to raise her voice, once a day is enough. Just after the ANBU agent, came another Jounin. While the room was slowly filling, Amaya could at least see a light in all of this. Only a few more minutes and all of this would be over. Yet what was speculated to be minutes, turned into hours.
The entire room was silent, waiting for the arrival of the last Jounin. The time passed, Amaya was getting more and more impatient. She even started to curse, but only in her mind. The words she yelled out, echoed in her head. Her hands formed into fists, her staff was near breaking from the amount of force the Jounin let out on the wooden weapon. Then after roughly an hour of waiting, the door once again opened. The missing shinobi finally arrived, but Uesugi was far away from being happy. OHAYO Was the word that suddenly broke the silent atmosphere. At this point Amaya had only one intention, to let her fist smite the face of that… that Jounin.
“BAKA!!!”
She yelled furiously. It was more then just pure anger that filled her heart, it was as well the lack of patience. Something she lost an hour ago. Yet before she could even let out her energy on the Jounin, the Team assigner, Genma spoke up. In one single second, both her fury and her desire to beat someone up, vanished. She turned her head towards the Chuunin as the shinobi called out her name. A folder was placed on the desk, swiftly Amaya took the document by force.
She opened it. Slowly she read through the entire sheet of paper. Her team was; Haruno, Nara and Uzumaki. The first two names didn’t surprise her, but the last one did. In her mind, she searched for this familiar name, but at first couldn’t find anything. Yet after a few seconds of intense thinking the meaning of this name struck her like a thunderbolt. An almost grim smile appeared on her pale face. Kyuubi Was the word that she started to repeat in her head. It was that boy, Ijoufu, the former nine-tailed fox. Then a single word escaped her mouth. It was more a silent mumble, but even for a whisper she was quiet loud.
“Interesting…”
